Police Operatives attached to Imala Police Division, Ogun State Police Command, have arrested a suspected armed robber, Akeem Ismail, following a raid of some blackspots in the state.
It was gathered that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the Imala, a Chief Superintendent of Police, Nurudeen Baba Hamzat, arrested the suspected during a 24-hour operation of the raids of criminal hideouts along Ayetoro Obada road.
The State Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, said that Ismail was sighted during the raid trying to escape on a Bajaj Motorcycle with registration number OGB 592 UP. The PPRO said that the suspect was trying to flee into a surrounding forest.
She added: “He was searched, and some dangerous weapons were recovered from him. A new locally made pistol was found on him and he confessed that the pistol belong to him. He further claimed he bought it in Ilara town.
“The Police have commenced an investigation into his confession as it is believed that there are other gang members. The Commissioner of Police has been briefed and he has expressed his commitment to the elimination of crimes and criminals from the state.
