Ondo Police confirms rescues of children in underground apartment

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of scores of children in an underground apartment of a church in the Valentino area of Ondo State, Ondo State.

The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Funmilayo Odunlami, said that the victims had been taken to the command’s headquarters in Akure, the state capital. It is believed that children are victims of human trafficking.

According to the image-maker, the command was still trying to gather facts about the case.

It was also learned that some church members and pastors have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The police are yet to tell the public how the children were discovered in the underground apartment and how they got there.
