Forty-one days after the death of a 75 years old American woman identified as Doris Samuel, personnel of the Nigerian Police Force said it was still investigating the cause of her death.

Julianafrancisnews.com, reached out to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin on the matter on June 3, 2022, asking for the latest development on the case.

Hundeyin responded the following day, saying: “They (homicide detectives) still haven’t concluded with the autopsy.”

The request from Julianafrancisnews.com, followed a request by a reader, demanding to know what happened to Doris.

The reader wrote: “Francis, you wrote the article, ‘USA investigates death of 75 years old American woman in Nigeria,’ have there been any updates on this case?”

Julianafrancisnews.com reported in May 2022, that Doris, an American citizen, died moments after landing on Nigerian soil to join her 36 years old husband, Mr. Okelue Kingsley.

Doris, it was gathered, came to Nigeria to meet Kingsley so that they could both go to American Embassy to facilitate his travel documents.

On the way to the embassy, Doris slumped and died inside the Uber car that was taking her and Kingsley to the embassy.

Kingsley and the Uber driver, Ayodeji Adebisi, 49, detoured to the United States Consulate, Walter Carrington Crescent, Victoria Island, to present the dead body.

The incident happened on May 23, 2022. However, Doris was said to have arrived in Nigeria on May 22, 2022. She died less than 24 hours after landing in Nigeria.

Julianafrancisnews.com also learned that an internal investigator of the United States Consulate, identified as Mr. Obayuwana Jelterson, was investigating the case with police detectives.

However, today is 41 days since the death of Doris, nothing had been heard officially about the cause of her demise. The police further confirmed that the Uber driver and Doris’s young husband were still in detention as of June 3.

The matter was officially reported at the Victoria Island Police Station, where Kingsley and the Uber driver were detained.

A team of detectives visited and photographed the scene of the incident, while Doris was taken to St. Nicholas Hospital, Lagos Island, where she was confirmed dead by a doctor. The remains of Doris were evacuated to Marina General Hospital morgue.
