Adamawa Police arrests couple for maltreating 11 yrs old ward

A husband and wife have been arrested for maltreating an 11 years old orphan identified as Fahad A Abdulkarim.

The suspects have been identified as Kamal Idris, 24, and Ambasiya Idris, 19, both residents of Wuro Jabbe, Yola South Local Government Area, Adamawa State,

The Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a Superintendent of Police, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said that the couple was arrested on the 12th of May 2023.

He also explained that the child was placed in the care of the couple as his guardians following the demise of his parents. under their custody as guardians, after the death of his father.

Nguroje said that the couple, “frequently and wilfully tortured the child as a result it creates grievous bodily injury on him. The Command upon receiving the report swung into action and luckily rescued the innocent tortured child and rushed him to the hospital, now on medical admission receiving treatment.

“The Commissioner of Police CP Afolabi Babatola frowned at the inhuman treatment meted on the little Boy by the guardians who happened to be uncle and aunt to the victim and vowed to prosecute them so as to serve as deterrence to others from doing likewise. The Police Boss urged members of the public to always support and give timely information to the police for effective Policing and service delivery.”
