Alarm as kidnappers abduct wedding guests in two buses

Police in Edo rescue 14 kidnap victims, search for others

…CP assures victims’ families, loved ones of rescue

 

The Edo State Police Command said it has rescued at least 14 victims, who were part of passengers of two Costal Buses kidnapped while travelling from Benue State to Ilorin, Kwara State for a wedding ceremony.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a Superintendent of Police, Chidi Nwabuzor, explained that the kidnap incident took place on the 24th of November, 2022 at about 4:PM, along Lagos–Abuja Road, by Ikeran Oke, Ibillo, in Akoko – Ado Local Government Area of Edo State.

Nwabuzor further said: “The Command at about 5:PM, through the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ibillo Division, received the information that hoodlums who were operating at the aforementioned location under Ibillo Divisional Police Headquarters in Edo State, attacked and kidnapped passengers of two Costal Buses who were travelling from Benue State to Ilorin, Kwara State for a wedding ceremony but en route through Ibillo town in Edo State.  Immediately, the DPO mobilised the patrol team, the Army personnel, Edo State Security Network personnel and the local hunters to the bush which resulted in the rescue of nine victims while unspecified numbers are still missing. Early hours of 25th November 2022, five other passengers were rescued inside the bush as the DPO and the security men embarked on aggressive bush combing operations for possible rescue of all the passengers.”

The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed A. Dankwara, vows to stop at nothing to see that all the kidnap victims were rescued and reunited with their families and loved ones.
