The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a self-acclaimed
medical doctor, who introduced himself as Dr. Philip Agbe Chukwuemeka.

The 31 years old man was arrested at Mgbuoba NTA Road,
for purchasing goods with a fake alert.

According to the Rivers State Police Public Relations
Officer (PPRO), a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Grace Iringe-Koko, during interrogation, Chukwumemeka claimed
to be a Medical Doctor working at the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital.

The image said: “Preliminary investigation, however,
reveals his claim to be false, as he dropped out of the University of Nigeria,
Nsukka, while in 200 level. The suspect, who is a native of Umuhunvosi Village,
in Isiala-Ngwa South of Abia State, met a lady via the Badoo social media
platform and came all the way from Enugu to Port Harcourt to meet her in
person. He paid for his lodging during their date, using fake credit alerts for
services of about N111,000. The case is currently with the State Criminal
Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and possible
prosecution.”

 Iringe-Koko said
that the Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday, has urged members of the
public to employ caution in the utilization of social media and to be wary of
fraudulent credit alerts by unsuspected persons. He also warned if anyone
experienced such, he or she should quickly report to the police.

In another development, the command, while responding
to a distress call from residents of Rumuagholu Estate in Obio/Akpor on 7th
April 2022, arrested two members of an armed robbery syndicate that had been
harassing and dispossessing people of their valuables.

The two suspects, Wisdom John, 20, and Anietie Stephen,
26, both males, were apprehended, while two others narrowly escaped.

Items recovered at the scene include various laptops
and phones stolen from the residents, as well as a Volkswagen Golf Car, marked
AH 757 NEM, which was used for the operation by the suspects. The investigation
is ongoing to arrest other fleeing suspects

Iringe-Koko further noted: “Operatives of the Command also
arrested two suspects for receiving a stolen ash coloured Honda Accord car belonging
to the Rivers State Government. The vehicle, which was snatched at gunpoint by
four armed men, at D/Line Port Harcourt, on the 3rd of April, 2022, was
recovered around Abuloma axes in Port Harcourt by the officers. The suspects,
one Saidu Adamu aka Alhaji Sani aged 30 years, and Mohammed Sani, aged 62
years, were arrested in possession of the stolen vehicle in the evening of the
same day.”
