A team of Amotekun operatives attached to Imeko-Afon Local Government has apprehended 49 years olf Akinyele Adebayo and 30 years old Idosu Igbalo in connection with a murder case.
It was gathered that on Tuesday 2nd of May, 2023, at about 12noon, Adebayo and Gbalo, both males, were arrested by a team of Amotekun operatives attached to Imeko-Afon Local Government for conspiracy and murder of one Umaru Aliu aka Lagi, a herder at Ijagure village along Sagada, Imeko-Afon Local Government of Ogun State.
Amotekun Corps Commander, CP David A. Akinremi rtd, said: “The crime was perpetrated on Sunday 30th April 2023 at about 6:PM, while the deceased and one Umaru Takake were grazing their cattle in the bush near the aforementioned village.
“Information has it that one Fagbemi Kareem, now at large armed with a locally made single barrel gun and accompanied by four other persons, namely: Olorunto Segun, Baba Shele , Lana Ojugbele and Ashipa, trailed the herders caught up with Umaru Aliu and allegedly shot him on farmland belonging to one Chief Ogunlana
Fagbemi Alias Osewuya at Ijagure village, while Umaru Takake narrowly escaped unhurt.
“On the same day at about 8:PM hours, the duo of Olorunto Segun and Baba Shele allegedly contacted one Akinyele Adebayo ‘M’ to assist to dismember the corpse at the scene of the crime and he obliged in the presence of other cohorts. While Baba Shele took away the head of the deceased to an unknown destination.
“Thereafter, the remaining parts of the dismembered body were packed in a sack and buried in a pit near Oyan River at Oke-Ayo village in Imeko.
“The two arrested suspects on further interrogation admitted their various roles in the dastardly criminal act and took operatives of the Corps to the scene where the remaining parts of the body were dumped with several parts missing.
“The prime suspects; Fagbemi Kareem and Baba Shele were said to have been arrested by Ijio Police Division, Oyo State for the same offence, while Lana Ojugbele, Olorunto Segun and Ashipa are still at large.
“Consequently, the suspects; Akinyele Adebayo and Idosu Gbalo are being transferred to Ogun State Police Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta for further action and prosecution.
“The Corps Commander wishes to once again re-iterate the determination of the Corps to fight all forms of crime and criminality in our dear State and warn the criminally minded individuals that the State will not be a safe haven for them.”
