Anambra State Police Command has foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued a victim in the state.

The Command spokesman, a Superintendent of Police (SP), Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, credited the achievements to the technology-driven and rejigged Personnel Operational Positioning on the anti-crime approach of the Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam.

He said that the Itam’s efforts have continued to thwart criminal endeavours of gunmen in the state, resulting in the latest where the operatives in Aguata rescued an abducted victim and recovered his vehicle, a sky blue Toyota Camry.

Ikenga explained that officers responded swiftly when they got the report at about 4:30 pm on the 22nd of May, of the abduction along Umuchiana village, Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area.

He added: “During the hot chase by the Police team, the criminals shoved the victim out of the vehicle at Ndike village in Orumba North LGA and drove off.

“The Officers sustained the trail on the abductors and the criminals abandoned the vehicle along Umunze Road Orumba South LGA and ran into a nearby bush. Operations are still ongoing for the possible arrest of the hoodlums.”

Meanwhile, the victim has been debriefed and reunited with his family.

To this end, Itam, while saluting the gallantry displayed by the operatives assures the people of Anambra State that the Police and other security agencies will do everything within the law to ensure they deny criminals the opportunity to foment troubles in the State.
