The Imo State Police Command has arrested 23-year-old Amanda Uchechi Ugo of Umumbiri in Ahoazu Mbaise, Imo State for shooting a police corporal, Cosmos Ugwu to death in a fit of rage.
According to sources, Ugo allegedly shot her lover thrice in the chest during a heated quarrel between the two of them.
Ugwu was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on arrival at the hospital.
The shocking incident was said to have happened on the 26th of December at about 6:32 p.m.
A police source said: “According to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ezinihitte, at about 6:32 PM, counter-duty personnel at the area command heard three gunshot sounds emanating from the room occupied by F/No 519925 CPL Cosmas Ugwu, the NCO was seen lying in a pool of blood with gunshot injuries on his chest and left hand.
“He was immediately rushed to Evergreen Hospital Ezinihitte for treatment, unfortunately, he was certified dead by a physician. The corpse was already deposited at Obizi Mortuary Ezinihitte.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the deceased had a serious altercation with his girlfriend, the suspect, one Amanda Uchechi Ugo, 23, of Umumbiri in Ahoazu Mbaise, which led to the suspect shooting the deceased. “The suspect has been arrested and the investigation is ongoing.”
