Angry Nigerians beat two policemen to death as two others battle for life

Two policemen, Inspector Abubakar Fakku and Sergeant Elisha John have been attacked and beaten to death by some angry Nigerians.

According to reports, at least four policemen were attacked by the angry mob, but while they survived, Fakku and John were not lucky.

It was gathered that the angry crowd swooped on the police escort after their motorcade rammed into a motorcycle carrying mother and child.

The impact of the accident led to the death of the cyclist, mother and child.

The death of the three victims sparked anger among people who witnessed the accident. They also blamed the accident on the policemen team, feeling they were speeding.

The angry mob pounced on the policemen believed to be escorts to Honourable Emmanuel Agbaje, former member of Edo State House of Assembly.

While two of the four policemen died, the other two are in the hospital battling to stay alive.

The accident was said to have occurred on the 1st of March 2024, at about 11:am.

According to a Situation Report from Edo State Police Command, “On the 1st of March 2024, motorcycle report received from Supol Igarra indicate that at about 11:am, one Toyota Hilux van conveying four Policemen namely Inspector Brownson Brown,  Inspector Abubakar Fakku, Sergeant Taiye Ojiefoh and Sergeant Elisha John, all attached To PMF 19 Port Harcourt on escort duty with one Honourable Emmanuel Agbaje, a former member of Edo State House of Assembly was involved in an accident with a motorcycle conveying a woman and child.

“In the process, the rider and passengers died on the spot. In reaction, an angry mob attacked the policemen, and beat Inspector Abubakar Fakku and Sergeant Elisha to death, while two others were receiving treatment at Ifejiola Hospital Igarra.

“The officer’s four rifles were recovered intact, while corpses of the policemen and the accident victims moved to the mortuary. The effort is also on to arrest the murderers of the policemen.”
