-

The ARISE News Channel is mourning the tragic loss of one of its own, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, who died in the early hours of Monday, September 29, following an armed robbery at her residence in the Katampe area of Abuja.

Maduagwu, 29, was a News Anchor, Reporter, and Producer at ARISE News, and was widely known for her vibrant on-air presence and compelling storytelling. She was also a trained lawyer and a respected colleague within the newsroom.

In a statement issued by Hadiza Usman-Ajayi on behalf of ARISE News management, the organisation expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to Maduagwu’s family, friends, and loved ones.

“Sommie’s voice is now silent, but her spirit, passion, and legacy will endure as part of our collective memory,” the statement read. “We remain in shock and call for a speedy investigation, apprehension, and prosecution of the culprits.”

The Nigerian Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
