Army Arrests Suspected Recruitment Fraudster in Taraba, Warns Public

-

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade have apprehended a suspected recruitment fraudster in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State, the brigade announced Tuesday.

The suspect, Felix Yadeh, 51, was arrested by members of a local vigilante group at Bantaje Village and handed over to soldiers deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Wukari.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Yadeh allegedly collected ₦3,627,000 from members of the public under the pretence of securing Nigerian Army recruitment slots. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed that his younger brother directed him to collect the payments from victims as purported enlistment fees.

Recovered items include an Infinix Android phone and ₦3,050 in cash. The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue to determine the full scope of the alleged fraud and identify possible accomplices.

Commander 6 Brigade and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, commended troops and vigilante members for their prompt action. He warned the public against paying anyone who claims to facilitate Nigerian Army recruitment.

“Recruitment into the Nigerian Army is completely free, transparent, and merit-based,” the brigade said in a statement, urging citizens to report suspected recruitment scams, extortion, or impersonation to security agencies. #Securitynewsalert.com
