Bola Tinubu Sympathises with Traders, Orders Probe into Fire at Singer Market

-

President Bola Tinubu has expressed sympathy with traders and residents of Kano State following a devastating fire outbreak at the Singer Market over the weekend.

The fire reportedly began on Saturday evening and continued burning into Sunday morning, destroying large sections of the food market and causing extensive losses to traders.

The President, who earlier contacted Abba Kabir Yusuf to obtain a situation report on the incident, described the outbreak as tragic and deeply concerning. He noted that the latest fire occurred less than two weeks after a similar incident destroyed dozens of shops and valuable goods within the same market.

In response, President Tinubu directed relevant authorities to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the recurring market fires, emphasising the need to determine their causes and prevent further occurrences that continue to leave traders in distress.

The directive was conveyed in a statement issued on February 15, 2026, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
