The serenity of Amankwu village in the Isiali Autonomous Community was transformed into a vibrant hub of culture and celebration recently, as families from Southern Cameroon and Abia State converged to seal the union of Dr Mercy Ekeoma Azubuko-Udah and Mr Nahtali-Noel Nkongho.
Dr Mercy Ekeoma Azubuko-Udah is the beautiful, brilliant daughter of retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Joel Azubuko-Udah.
The traditional marriage ceremony, which saw the groom’s family fulfil customary rites and bride price obligations, served as a vivid display of “unity in diversity,” bridging the geographical gap between Central and West Africa.
The event drew a high-profile crowd, reflecting the stature of the bride’s father, Barrister Azubuko-Udah, a prominent figure in Abia State.
In his welcome address, the visibly elated father of the bride, popularly known as Enyi Abia, expressed deep gratitude to the guests who travelled from across the country.
“This marriage is a testament to unity in diversity,” Barrister Udah remarked. “I am truly appreciative to God for this joyful event. Even though we kept the publicity minimal, your presence here means the world to our family. We pray that God blesses this union with all the goodness that accompanies a blessed marriage.”
The ceremony was marked by an impressive turnout of dignitaries, underscoring the influence of the families involved.
The guest list included a cross-section of Nigeria’s leadership, ranging from traditional stakeholders to captains of industry and top security officials.
Notable figures in attendance included the President-General of the Ozuitem Development Union, Hon. Chukwuma Egwuonwu, who arrived with members of his executive committee.
The former Deputy Chairman of Bende Local Government, Chief Hon. Chidiebere Asonye, was also present, alongside other prominent figures such as Mr Chibuisi Jet Nwankwo, Hon. Uche Onyeama, and Chief Ifeanyi Adije. The event also saw support from members of the National High School Aba Old Boys Association and the President-General of the Amankwu Ozuitem Development Union, Chief Chukwunonye Titus.
The proceedings were presided over by Professor Emmanuel Mazi, former Commissioner for Sports in Abia State, who served as the chairman of the occasion.
“We thank God for this beautiful traditional ceremony,” Professor Mazi stated while addressing the gathering. “May the Almighty shower His blessings upon this union, ensuring that the bond between these two families continues to flourish.”
As the festivities concluded, the Azubuko-Udah family extended their heartfelt prayers for safe travels for all guests, many of whom had journeyed from various parts of Nigeria to partake in the joyful milestone. #securitynewsalert.com
