COAS Hails Renewed Hope Initiative, Support For Families Of Fallen Heroes

-

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Thursday joined the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, the Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, the Inspector General of Police, and other senior military and security leaders at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for the second edition of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Presentation of Financial Support to Widows of Fallen Heroes of the Armed Forces and Police.

The event, organised by the Office of the First Lady under the RHI Social Investment Programme, provides financial assistance to families of personnel who paid the supreme price in service to the nation.

Speaking at the occasion, Lieutenant General Shaibu described the initiative as a profound demonstration of national appreciation and solidarity with the families of fallen heroes.

“Caring for those they left behind remains a collective and enduring responsibility,” he said. “Sustained support for the families of our fallen personnel does not only honour their sacrifice — it reinforces the morale, commitment and fighting spirit of our serving troops.”

The COAS expressed appreciation to the First Lady and the Renewed Hope Initiative for complementing the Nigerian Army’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the welfare of personnel and their families.

“We remain committed to honouring our fallen heroes and ensuring that their families continue to receive the dignity, care and support they deserve,” he said. “Our nation’s obligation to its heroes extends beyond their sacrifice to the wellbeing of those they left behind.”
