Community Head, 5 Others Arrested as CP Orders Probe into Ozoro Sexual Assault

-

The Delta State Police Command has launched a high-level investigation into a series of “disturbing and inhumane” sexual assaults captured on video during a local event in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area.

Following the viral spread of the footage, which shows the molestation of young women in the Oramudu quarters, Commissioner of Police CP Aina Adesola has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

In a swift response to the outcry, tactical teams have already apprehended the alleged chief organiser, Chief Omorede Sunday, along with five other suspects.

According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the Command is utilising all available investigative assets to ensure every individual involved is brought to justice.

“The Command unequivocally condemns such acts in their entirety. Acts of sexual violence are criminal, inhumane, and constitute a grave violation of the fundamental rights and dignity of victims,” the statement read.

CP Adesola has personally assured the public that the investigation will be exhaustive. He emphasised that the police would not tolerate the degradation of citizens under any guise.

“The Commissioner of Police has ordered that the case be immediately transferred to the SCID for further investigation. Tactical and investigative assets have been duly deployed with a clear mandate to identify, apprehend, and ensure the prosecution of all individuals found culpable,” SP Edafe noted.

The police are now calling on the community to assist in the legal process. To ensure a solid case against the perpetrators, the Command is urging victims and eyewitnesses to step forward with information.

The Command has guaranteed that all information provided will be treated with strict confidentiality and the highest level of professionalism. Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police appealed to residents of the state to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding while asserting that the Command remains fully committed to protecting lives and maintaining public order.

The Delta State Police Command concluded by reiterating its commitment to safeguarding the rights of all citizens, vowing that all those involved in these reprehensible acts will be prosecuted in accordance with the law. #Securitynewsalert.com
