Complex Security Challenges Require Stronger Partnership, Says CP Enugu

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa,  on June 19, 2025, paid a courtesy and familiarisation visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu, Major General Oluyemi Thomas Olatoye.

The visit, which took place at the Division’s Headquarters in Enugu, was aimed at strengthening the existing interagency collaboration between the Nigerian Police Force and the Nigerian Army.

During the interactive visit, CP Giwa emphasised that the complexity of contemporary security challenges necessitates enhanced cooperation among the Police, the military, other security agencies, and the community at large.

 

In his remarks, the GOC, who oversees all the States in the Southeast geopolitical zone, Cross River State, and coordinates the Joint Task Force (JTF) South-East Operation Udoka,  warmly welcomed the Commissioner and his entourage.

He stressed the importance of strategic and collaborative crime-fighting efforts among security agencies. He further underscored the need for practical integration of community members into the security framework, particularly in the area of credible information and intelligence gathering.

The Commissioner was accompanied by members of the Enugu State Command Management Team during the familiarisation visit.
