CP advice policemen to stop torture, extortion, corrupt practices

The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Chris Aimionowane, has advised his men to do away with all forms of torture, extortion and corrupt practices in discharging their duties.

The CP was said to have given this advice to policemen attached to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department (SCIID), after which he presented claim settlement group life assurance N45, 245, 892, 84k to 10 families of deceased police officers in Kebbi State Command.

Kebbi State Police Command spokesman, Nafiu Abubakar, said: “The CP in his zeal and determination to ensure productivity of the officers and men in the Command, on Thursday, 26th October, 2023, lectured Detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Birnin Kebbi.

“While interacting with them, the CP encouraged them to investigate their cases thoroughly, how to recover and package exhibits, diligent prosecution of cases, need to be self-discipline, and truthfulness, develop a culture of savings, need to upgrade themselves and do away with all forms of torture, extortion and corrupt practices in discharging their duties.”

In his response, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Ibrahim Usman Lukunche, appreciated the CP’s kind gesture for finding time to lecture them about his wealth of experience, despite his tight schedules.

He promised the CP that, Officers and men of the Department had assimilated the contents of his lecture and were going to utilize it in their day-to-day activities for the betterment of the Command.

In a related development, CP Aimionowane had on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, also presented claim settlement Group Life Assurance, and IGP Family Welfare Schemes Cheques worth over N45m to 10 families of deceased Police Officers, who lost their lives in the active service of their fatherland.

While presenting the cheques at the State Headquarters, Birnin Kebbi, the CP charged the beneficiaries not to waste the token, but to utilise it optimally for the benefit of the entire family members by doing something substantial in solving their immediate problems and progress of their academic career.

The CP equally prayed for the gentle souls of the deceased Police Officers to have eternal rest and give their immediate families and friends the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

One Lawal Muhammad and Saratu Garba, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries who were full of joy, praised and appreciated the IGP’s magnanimity towards them and prayed for the Almighty Allah to continue to increase him, his management team and the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, with more health, wealth, wisdom and strength to pilot the affairs of the Nigeria Police Force.
