CP Aina Begins Familiarisation Tour, Visits Asaba Area Command, Asagba’s Palace

-

In a move to strengthen the bond between law enforcement and the local community, the newly minted Commissioner of Police for Delta State, CP Aina Adesola, officially kicked off his statewide familiarisation tour on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

The tour, which aims to assess operational efficiency and reinforce community-oriented policing, began with a high-profile visit to the Asaba Area Command and a traditional courtesy call to the Asagba of Asaba.

Upon his arrival at the Asaba Area Command, CP Adesola was received by the Area Commander, ACP Alex Udeze. Addressing a gathering of senior officers and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), the Commissioner laid out a clear mandate for his tenure: professionalism and respect for the citizenry.

“Our approach must be rooted in intelligence-led policing,” CP Adesola stated during the session. “I charge every officer to remain disciplined and proactive. We must ensure that in our pursuit of safety, we maintain a deep respect for human rights and deliver service that the public can trust.”

Beyond the barracks, the Commissioner hosted an interactive forum with a diverse group of stakeholders, including youth representatives, transport unions, and business leaders. The message was clear: the police cannot secure the state alone.

“Security is a collective responsibility,” the CP noted. “We are calling for a sustained collaboration with every member of this metropolis to ensure that our streets remain safe for business and daily life.”

The highlight of the day’s activities was a visit to the palace of His Royal Majesty, Obi (Prof) Epiphany Chibuogu Azinge, SAN, OON, the Asagba of Asaba.

CP Adesola expressed his gratitude to the traditional council for their historical support of the police force. In response, the traditional institution signalled its readiness to work alongside the new police leadership to maintain the peace currently enjoyed in the capital.

“The traditional institution is the heartbeat of the community,” the CP remarked. “We are here to assure you of the Command’s commitment to a partnership that promotes public confidence and lasting peace.”

The familiarisation tour is set to continue across all other Area Commands in Delta State to allow CP Adesola to assess the specific operational needs of different regions and boost personnel morale.
