CP Lagos Removes DPO Elemoro, Orders Thorough Investigation of Allegations Against DPO

-

Following allegations in a news report against the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Elemoro Police Division, published in Vanguard Newspaper Publication of April 24, 2025, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has set up a 5-man committee of senior officers headed by Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), including the OC Legal of the Command to investigate all the allegations in the report and submit findings within a week.

The Command spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, said that consequent upon this, the DPO and other officers involved have been transferred out of Elemoro Division to pave the way for a thorough and unhindered investigation into the allegations in the report.

Hundeyin added: “The outcome of the investigation will certainly  be made public. The Commissioner of Police hereby wishes to extend an invitation to the lawyer concerned for a meeting at his convenience with the committee set up to investigate the allegations.

“The Lagos State Police Command does not support any form of inhuman treatment or miscarriage of justice in any form and will make sure that if the officers involved are found wanting, in any way, appropriate disciplinary measures are applied to serve as an effective deterrent to others.

“The Commissioner of Police, therefore, implores the general members of the public to have trust in the Police and be assured that every wrongdoing proven against any officer will certainly be redressed.”
