Davido: We’re quizzing eight domestic staff, says Lagos Police

-

The Lagos State Police Command said it had arrested domestic staff concerning the death of Ifeanyi Adeleke, son of Nigeria’s pop star, David Adeleke otherwise known as Davido.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Benjamin Hundeyin, said eight domestic staff of the music star have also been invited for questioning regarding the death of the child.

Speaking with British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), he said: “They were invited for questioning and anyone found guilty will be placed under arrest. We got the report at about 10:pm on Monday night. His body has been deposited in the morgue. We are in touch with his parents. In fact, they were with us last night. What we know so far is that he drowned. I don’t have any information beyond that. We are reviewing the CCTV Cameras to get additional information about the circumstances of his death.”

The deceased on the 20th of October 2022 clocked three and was said to have drowned in his family swimming on Monday.

The death of the child has been attributed to negligence by many outraged Nigerians, especially against Davido’s domestic staff.

Our reporter learned that the Parents of the child, Davido and Chioma Rowland, went to a family event in Ibadan, Oyo State, leaving Ifeanyi to the care of many minders.

How the toddler got to the swimming pool without any of his minders noticing is one of the mysteries that the police will have to dig out.

The death of the child has plunged many Nigerians into mourning, and the internet has been buzzing. Many Nigerians are calling for a thorough investigation and justice for Ifeanyi.
