Delta CP Meets Senior Officers, Orders Strict Discipline, Professional Conduct

-

The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has charged officers of the command to uphold discipline, civility, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties, warning that misconduct will not be tolerated.

Speaking during a high-level meeting with senior officers on Sunday, May 3, 2026, the police chief stressed the need for strict compliance with the Nigeria Police Force’s rules and regulations and adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures.

“The Force Management will not accept any excuse from officers who fail to do the right thing,” Oyeniyi said.

The meeting, attended by Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Heads of Departments, focused on addressing concerns related to the conduct and professionalism of personnel across the state.

Oyeniyi expressed concern over reported cases of incivility among some officers, reminding personnel that policing is primarily a service to the people.

“Officers must be polite, professional, and respectful in their dealings with members of the public at all times,” he said.

He also tasked senior officers with greater responsibility in supervising their subordinates, urging them to provide proper guidance and corrective measures where necessary.

“They must motivate their men, build morale, and ensure they project a positive image of the Force,” the CP added.

The commissioner further directed that the directives be cascaded across all units and divisions to ensure full compliance, while emphasising the importance of accessibility and communication with the public.

“Senior officers must remain accessible and make their official phone numbers available to the public to improve communication and trust,” he stated.

In line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the CP disclosed that tactical teams within the command have been reorganised to enhance effectiveness and supervision. #Securitynewsalert.com
