The Delta State Police Command has arrested three suspects in separate operations in Agbarho and Oghara, recovering six firearms, four live cartridges, ten expended cartridges and other items.
The seized weapons include one Beretta pistol, one pump-action gun and four locally made guns.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, operatives of the Command Anti-Cultism Unit (CACU), Sector 3, Ovwian-Aladja, arrested the first suspect on November 4 while on patrol along the Agbarho–Warri Expressway.
The suspect, Akpoghene Goodluck, 34, allegedly tried to evade the operatives. A search of the premises where he was apprehended led to the recovery of two locally fabricated guns and ten expended cartridges.
Further investigation led police to a second suspect, Solomon Arhugberume James, 50. Officers recovered one pump-action gun and one live cartridge from his residence.
Both men claimed to be members of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security outfit but could not produce identification to support the claim, police said.
In a separate operation, operatives of the Oghara Division on October 23 arrested a suspected member of the Eiye confraternity, Clinton Awuerowswo, alias “Clinbaby,” 23.
The suspect had been at large since March 23, 2026, when police recovered firearms from his residence. The exhibits recovered include one Beretta pistol, two locally made cut-to-size guns, three live cartridges, a battle axe and a jackknife.
Police said that during preliminary investigation, the suspect reportedly admitted owning the weapons and belonging to the Eiye cult group. Investigation is ongoing.
Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel E. Erale, warned residents against cultism and the unlawful possession of firearms. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustained operations against criminal groups.
He also urged residents to provide credible information to the police, assuring them that such information would be treated confidentially.
