The Delta State Police Command has recorded fresh breakthroughs in its fight against crime, with the arrest of suspected armed robbers and drug dealers in separate operations.
On 17th September 2025, operatives of Ogwashi-Uku Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Israel Okomoyon, in collaboration with local vigilantes, intercepted three young men on a motorcycle during a routine patrol.
The suspects, Emmanuel Ibekwe (25), Victor Chibuzor (25), and Zakaria Joro (25), all residents of Ogwashi-Uku, were searched, leading to the recovery of an English pistol loaded with two live rounds of ammunition. The men could not provide any credible explanation for possessing the weapon.
They have since been handed over, along with the recovered firearm, to the State Anti-Kidnapping Squad for further investigation.
In a separate operation on 13th September 2025, operatives of the Eagle Net Special Squad, led by Commander SP Danyaya Yunusa, acting on credible intelligence, stormed a hotel along the Asaba–Benin Expressway in Agbor. The operation was carried out in collaboration with the Nigeria Hunters Forest Security Service (NHFSS).
Ten adult suspects were arrested, including the hotel owner, Markwuye Peter of Ifeanchukwu Street, Agbor. A large quantity of illicit drugs was recovered during the raid. The suspects remain in custody while investigations continue to uncover the scope of their criminal network.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the operatives for the successful operations. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Delta State, stressing that the achievements reflect the renewed drive for intelligence-led policing, community partnership, and rapid response.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and to continue providing useful information to the police, assuring them of swift and decisive action against criminals.
