Delta Police Arrests Suspected Armed Robbers, Gun Runners, Recovers Five Guns, Cartridges

The Delta State Police Command said it has arrested suspected armed robbers, gunrunners, and recovered five guns and cartridges in the state.

The Command spokesman, a Superintendent of Police, Bright Edafe, said that the Police, acting on intel received about cultists’ activities around Mosogar and its environs, on the 11th of June, at about 3:45 am, carried out an operation.

The Operatives of CP – Special Assignment Team (CP – SAT ) led by Asistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, Julius Robinson, stormed the residence of 29-year-old Koko Josh, a native of Otor-Iyede Community in Isoko North LGA, Delta State, resident of Adams Street Area Mosoghar and  27-year-old Asomugha Clinton, a native of Mbaisse Community in Ezinetthe LGA, Imo State.

 

Edafe said: “During the preliminary investigation, a search warrant was executed in his premises during which a black bag containing a fabricated Beretta pistol loaded with two rounds of live ammunition, two locally made guns, eight rounds of live cartridges were recovered also recovered are multiple phones laptop and some fetish substances was recovered.

“Further investigation led to the arrest of Anthony Kelvin, 26, a native of Orhoakpor Community in Ethiope East LGA, Delta State and Gift Amotsuka, 25, a native of Jakpa Community in Warri North LGA, Delta State, both residents at Adam Street Mosoghar. They are all suspected to be members of the Aiye confraternity. Suspects are in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.”

In another development, Operatives of the CP Special assignment team at about 4:pm of 13th of June, embarked on a sting operation at  Okpanam Area of Asaba and effected the arrest of 36-year-old Ms. Ekene Chroma, a native of Issele-Uku in Aniocha North LGA of Delta State, and Okafor Jonathan,18, a native of Onicha-Ugbo in Aniocha North LGA of Delta State, both resident at Okpanam.

Edafe said: “Upon search, two English Single Barrell and one hundred and 10 live cartridges were recovered. Preliminary investigations revealed that they were suspected of being involved in the business of gun running. Suspects and exhibits are in custody while the investigation is ongoing.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, extends his deepest appreciation to members of the public who have been assisting the Police by way of providing this useful information that operatives of the command work with to record these numerous achievements.

“The CP stated that it would not have been made possible without the support from members of the Public, and he calls for other well-meaning residents in the state to join the police in this fight to achieve a safer Delta State.”
