The Delta State Police Command said it has arrested suspected kidnappers and recovered some arms and ammunition.

The Command spokesman, Bright Edafe, said that on March 26, 2025, operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team led by the Commander, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Julius Robinson, on the trail of some suspected kidnappers extended their investigation to River State.

On the same date, at about 6:20 pm,  a fleeing suspected kidnapper named Chedeye Mohammed was trailed and arrested.

Edafe said: “Upon interrogation, the suspect led operatives to a bush after a trailer park in River State where they hid their weapons. One AK-47 rifle loaded with 13 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition was recovered.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and his members usually kidnap at Ughelli, Agbarho, and other parts of the state and hibernate in River State. Efforts to arrest his other gang members are ongoing.”

Similarly, the Command arrested suspected armed robbers, and gunrunners and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one Automatic Pump Action Gun, one Baretta Pistol and Ammunition.

Edafe said that the feat was recorded after operatives of the CP special assignment led by Robinson, acting on credible information, embarked on a sting operation in Anyangba town Kogi State.

In the operation, three suspects were arrested,  Zakari Mohammed, 31, Ibrahim Mumuni, 29, and Mohammed Hamisu, 25 all in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Edafe said: “A search warrant was executed at their residence, during which an AK-47 rifle and one Automatic Pump Action Gun were recovered. On the same date, at about 2:05 pm, the operatives acting on the statement made by the suspect arrested another suspect named Samaila Mohammed, 35 and recovered a Baretta Pistol loaded with three rounds of live ammunition and cartridges. The suspects are in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.”
