Delta Police Arrests Two, Recovers Pistols, Suspected Cocaine and SUV in Highway Raid

-

Two suspected criminals were arrested and a cache of weapons, ammunition, and suspected hard drugs recovered after police intercepted a Mercedes-Benz SUV along the Agbarho–Warri Road in Delta State on Saturday.

The Delta State Police Command said operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol stopped the grey Mercedes-Benz ML SUV, registration number AAA 604 JZ, during a routine stop-and-search operation on July 25.

Two occupants, identified as Omini Ezeri, 46, and Chinedum Wagbara, 42, both residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, were taken into custody. A third occupant, identified as God Knows Ifreke, fled into a nearby swamp during preliminary questioning and remains at large.

A search of the vehicle turned up two locally fabricated Beretta pistols loaded with nine rounds of live ammunition, about 200 grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine, a walkie-talkie, a dagger, a grinder, and two mobile phones described as sophisticated devices.

Police said the two suspects remain in custody while a manhunt continues for Ifreke.

Commissioner of Police for Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for their vigilance and said the command remains committed to making Delta State inhospitable for criminals, including those involved in illegal firearms possession and drug trafficking. He appealed to residents to keep sharing timely, credible information with police. #Securitynewsalert.com
