-

The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspects in separate operations targeting cultism, armed robbery and kidnapping, recovering a locally made firearm, ammunition and a cutlass.

The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, by its Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.

According to the statement, operatives of the Command’s Quick Response Squad (QRS), acting on credible intelligence, arrested a 37-year-old suspect, identified as Adogbeji Johnson, also known as “Highman,” in Abraka on October 10, 2026.

The suspect, who is believed to be a member of the Black Axe Confraternity, also known as Aiye, is being investigated for alleged involvement in cultism and armed robbery.

A search of his Toyota Sienna vehicle reportedly led to the recovery of one locally made cut-to-size firearm, two live cartridges and a cutlass.

The police said the suspect had been taken into custody, while investigations were ongoing.

In a separate operation on the same day, operatives of the State Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU), Ubuluku, in collaboration with officers of the Ogwashi-Uku Divisional Police Headquarters, the Civilian Anti-Cult Unit, Ubuluku, and local vigilantes, raided a location in Ubulunor.

The operation, conducted at about 3:30 p.m., resulted in the arrest of a 20-year-old suspect, Musa Mohammed, who is suspected of involvement in kidnapping activities.

The police said two live cartridges and one expended cartridge were recovered during the operation.

Mohammed is also in custody as investigations continue.

Reacting to the arrests, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, reiterated the command’s commitment to combating violent crimes through intelligence-led policing.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations and improve security across the state.

The command assured residents of its continued efforts to tackle cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping and other violent crimes in Delta State.
