Delta Police Foils Kidnap Plot, Arrests Drug Suspects in Raids

-

The Delta State Police Command has recorded significant breakthroughs in its ongoing security operations, foiling a kidnap plot and disrupting drug trafficking networks through coordinated raids across the state.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement issued on April 18, 2026, in Asaba.

According to him, “the Command has intensified its operations against criminal elements, leading to notable successes in the fight against drug-related offences and other crimes.”

Edafe said operatives of the Otorerokpe Division, during an anti-crime patrol on April 15, 2026, at about 10:23 p.m., raided a suspected drug hideout in the Ugholo community, where a 33-year-old woman, Justina Onokpasa, was arrested.

“During the raid, the operatives recovered two large bags of weeds suspected to be Canadian loud, 300 small cans of substances also suspected to be Canadian loud, 30 bottles of CSC codeine, 10 sachets of tramadol, two sachets of ‘Super Royal’ (Redboy), 12 sachets of Swinol, 12 pieces of molly drugs, and 400 empty distribution cans,” he stated.

He added that the suspect is currently in custody while investigations are ongoing.

In a separate operation, Edafe said operatives of the State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU), on April 16, 2026, at about 11:45 a.m., raided identified drug spots in Abraka, leading to the arrest of three suspects.

“During the raid, large quantities of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs were recovered,” he said, noting that the suspects are also in custody as investigations continue.

Reacting to the developments, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication.

“The Command will sustain the tempo of these operations and remains committed to ridding Delta State of criminal elements,” Oyeniyi said. #Securitynewsalert.com
