Delta Police Honours Fallen Heroes with ₦16.6m Disbursement to Bereaved Families

-

The Delta State Police Command on Thursday presented insurance benefit cheques totalling ₦16,679,749.92 to the families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The presentation, held at the Command Headquarters in Asaba, served as the state-level climax of the week-long celebrations ahead of the national grand finale scheduled to take place at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

A total of 13 beneficiaries received the funds, which are part of the Force’s ongoing welfare initiatives aimed at providing a financial cushion for the dependents of deceased personnel. The Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi,  described the ceremony as a “solemn yet significant” reminder of the risks officers take to ensure public safety.

“This gesture reflects the unwavering commitment of the Force leadership to the welfare of our personnel—both living and departed,” CP Oyeniyi stated. “The Nigeria Police Force stands with you and will continue to support you. The sacrifices made by your loved ones are invaluable and will never be forgotten.”

While handing over the cheques, the Commissioner urged the recipients to be resourceful and disciplined with the funds to ensure the long-term well-being of their households.

Speaking on behalf of the families, Mr Ahanuwa Raphael expressed profound gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and the Delta State Command. He noted that the financial support would go a long way in alleviating the hardships faced by the families since the loss of their breadwinners. #Securitynewsalert.com
