Delta Police Impounds 22 Vehicles, Arrests 3 as it Cracks down on Traffic Violations, Crimes

-

The Delta State Police Command has intensified its crime-prevention efforts, launching a series of aggressive patrols to bolster public safety and enforce state laws.

Following direct mandates from the Commissioner of Police to increase visibility and supervision, a high-level tactical operation was conducted across the Asaba metropolis on May 8, 2026.

Led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, the exercise utilised a combined force of operatives from the Department of Operations (DOPS Buffalo), the Special Enquiry Unit, and Operation Delta Shield. The crackdown focused on identifying security risks and ensuring strict adherence to traffic regulations and public order directives.

During the course of the intensive patrol, security forces impounded twenty-two vehicles for various infractions. These violations included the operation of unregistered vehicles, driving without visible number plates, travelling against the flow of traffic, and operating machinery under the influence of alcohol.

Beyond traffic enforcement, the operation resulted in the apprehension of three suspects who were taken into custody for the obstruction of justice and the physical assault of police officers performing their lawful duties.

In a statement issued by the Command, officials reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a professional and unbiased approach to law enforcement, emphasising that regulations will be strictly applied regardless of an individual’s social status or position.

The Command expressed its gratitude for continued community support and urged residents to remain law-abiding while providing timely information to assist in the ongoing mission to preserve peace throughout the state.
