Delta Police Smashes Drug Syndicate, Recovers Cache of Illicit Pills, Firearms

-

The Delta State Police Command has announced the seizure of over 1,500 packets of prohibited drugs and the arrest of a suspected armed robber linked to a notorious cult group.

The operations, led by Commissioner of Police CP Aina Adesola, signify a tightened grip on criminal networks operating across the state’s expressways and urban centres.

The crackdown began on the night of February 13, 2026, when the Eagle Net Special Squad flagged down a white J5 Bus during a routine stop-and-search along the Asaba-Agbor Expressway.

While the vehicle appeared to be transporting industrial machinery, a meticulous search revealed a different cargo hidden beneath the heavy equipment. Officers recovered 1,520 packets of Tramadol and Swinol, potent synthetic opioids frequently linked to substance abuse and crime.

The driver, Ebuka Dominion, and his assistant, Emmanuel Terdule, were taken into custody immediately. Their interrogation led police to the alleged kingpin behind the shipment.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the consignment was intended for distribution,” stated SP Bright Edafe, the Command’s Public Relations Officer. “Acting on information obtained, operatives arrested Peter Etim Akpan, 47, who is alleged to be the owner of the drugs.”

In a separate operation on February 22, the CP Special Assignment Team utilised credible intelligence to track down 23-year-old Collins Darlington in Ughelli. Darlington was wanted in connection with a string of violent robberies plaguing the Warri metropolis.

According to police reports, Darlington did not just confess to his crimes but led officers to a remote bush in the Jedo area of Warri, where he had buried a locally made firearm.

“The suspect confessed to being a member of the Aye Confraternity,” SP Edafe noted. “He admitted involvement in several door-to-door robbery incidents within Warri.”

These back-to-back successes highlight a shift toward proactive, intelligence-driven operations in Delta State. CP Aina Adesola reaffirmed that the command is not slowing down, emphasising that the safety of residents remains the top priority.

CP Adesola urged the public to remain vigilant and continue partnering with law enforcement, stating that the command remains committed to the protection of lives and property. He further encouraged members of the public to support the Police with credible and timely information.

Investigations are currently ongoing to track down the remaining members of both the drug syndicate and Darlington’s robbery gang. #securitynewsalert.com
