Delta Police to Intensify Traffic Law Enforcement, Activate Mobile Courts

-

The Delta State Police Command has announced plans to intensify enforcement of traffic laws and related offences across the state with immediate effect.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, disclosed that the move follows official confirmation from the Delta State Judiciary through the Office of the Chief Registrar of the High Court of Justice, Delta State, acting on behalf of Justice T. O. Diai, that designated Mobile Courts are now operational across various jurisdictions in the state.

According to the police, the Mobile Courts are empowered to summarily try traffic offenders and other violators in line with existing laws.

securitynewsalert.com heard that the Command stated that surveillance, patrol, and enforcement operations would be strengthened across major roads and urban centres, including Asaba, Warri, Effurun, Sapele, Ughelli, Agbor, and other parts of the state.

The police warned that offences such as reckless driving, driving against traffic, use of unauthorised number plates, driving without registration numbers, illegal use of sirens and revolving lights, obstruction, and other traffic violations would attract immediate arrest and prosecution before the Mobile Courts.

Residents were strongly advised to comply with traffic regulations, as the Command stressed that there would be zero tolerance for traffic indiscipline, obstruction of law enforcement officers, or attempts to evade lawful arrest.

The police emphasised that the enforcement measures are aimed at restoring order, improving road safety, protecting lives and property, and ensuring compliance with the law, noting that law-abiding residents have nothing to fear.

securitynewsalert.com gathered that the Command further reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and the rule of law under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola.
