Frustration boiled over following a recent All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Kano State, as attendees publicly voiced outrage over receiving what they described as insufficient compensation for their attendance.
Several residents who attended the event expressed disappointment after being handed ₦3,000, claiming the sum barely covered the costs incurred just to reach the venue.
“If you people keep giving us ₦3,000 for APC campaign, we won’t come again,” voiced a group of Kano residents who attended the rally. “Some of us borrowed transport fare to come to the campaign ground, and they are only paying us ₦3,000.”
The incident has reignited public debate regarding political mobilisation tactics and the authenticity of crowd sizes at major party rallies ahead of upcoming elections. Online reactions were swift, with critics seizing on the complaints as evidence of artificial crowd padding.
Reacting to the report, social media user `@aabello84` dismissed the significance of the rally’s turnout, alleging that the attendees were brought in specifically to project a false sense of popularity to party leadership.
“If you believe in that crowd gathered at the event, you need to get your head examined… It was a rented crowd from villages across the state to deceive Abuja that people are on their side. Let’s wait for the election; fowl yansh will be wide open,” the user commented.
Echoing similar sentiments, another commentator, `@MimiInnocent3`, accused the party of using staged optics for online influence.
“Their crowds can never be organic. They pay people, gather them, and quickly use drones to snap them and use the pics online so that an unsuspecting person will think that APC has supporters. We know the tricks, and so we can’t be deceived or manipulated,” they wrote.
