DSS Steps In as Nurses’ Forum Secures Legal Representation for Member in Ikorodu Hospital Dispute

-

The Department of State Services (DSS) has indicated its intention to act on a labour dispute between a registered nurse and his former employer at a Lagos hospital, following a press statement published by a professional advocacy group.

The Elegant Nurses Forum (ENF) disclosed on Wednesday that a DSS official contacted Nurse Nwokediuko Jude Chukwuemeka after the agency reportedly came across the forum’s earlier press statement online. The official informed the nurse that Dr. Godspower, Managing Director of Firston Hospital in Ikorodu, Lagos State, had also been invited by the agency.

However, the ENF criticised the manner of the invitation, describing the notice given to Nurse Nwokediuko as “extremely short and unreasonable.” According to the forum, the nurse was contacted in the morning and given less than an hour to appear before the agency, with no prior arrangement or adequate time to prepare.

In response, the ENF said it has engaged the Lagos TIB Movement, whose leadership assisted in securing legal representation for the nurse. The forum said arrangements are currently underway with legal counsel to agree on a suitable date for Nurse Nwokediuko to appear before the DSS.

“The Elegant Nurses Forum remains committed to resisting intimidation, defending the rights of nurses, and demanding justice for oppressed citizens and healthcare workers facing unfair treatment and exploitation,” the group stated, urging members and the public not to be alarmed by the development. #Securitynewsalert.com
