ECOWAS Envoy Praises Mission Personnel in Guinea-Bissau

-

The Resident Representative of the President of the ECOWAS Commission (RRPC) and Head of Mission (HOM) to Guinea-Bissau, Ambassador Dr. Ngozi Ukaeje, has lauded the personnel of the ECOWAS Stabilisation Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau (ESSMGB), describing them as “Diplomatic Military professionals.”

Ambassador Ukaeje made the remarks during a courtesy visit by the Force Commander of ESSMGB, Brigadier General Danjuma Ribah Dantani, who led senior officers including the newly inducted Deputy Force Commander, Contingent Commanders, and staff officers of the Force Headquarters to the ECOWAS Office in Bissau.

Expressing her delight at receiving the new officers, Dr Ukaeje said she was impressed by their professionalism and readiness to assume duties immediately.

“I encourage you to tailor your in-house training towards supporting the National Defence Forces of Guinea-Bissau, especially in the forthcoming referendum and subsequent general elections,” she advised. She further urged the officers to remain focused and brace up for the tasks ahead to achieve the mission’s objectives.

Brigadier General Dantani explained that the visit was in line with tradition, aimed at formally introducing the newly inducted senior officers to the RRPC/HOM. He noted that the meeting would also strengthen direct engagement between the officers and the mission leadership.

The Force Commander briefed Ambassador Ukaeje on administrative and operational matters concerning the contingents, while expressing gratitude for her “exemplary leadership and continued support in leading the affairs of the mission.”
