Yuletide: Edo Police warns against use of fireworks, assures of adequate security

-

The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Police Command, CP Muhammed A. Dankwara, has warned citizens to desist from the use of fireworks during the Yuletide season and also assured that the Police and other law enforcement agencies in the state will ensure adequate security before, during, and after the festive seasons.

The CP gave this assurance on Wednesday, 30th of November, 2022, when he visited the Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria (C.A.N), Bishop Oyenude Kure, and other Christian leaders at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Airport Road, Benin City, Edo State.

He also seized the opportunity presented by the visit to congratulate all the Christian faithful in the state as they celebrate Christmas.

Meanwhile, the CP urges citizens not to, under the pretext of celebrating the season, engage in any illegality, particularly the throwing or shooting of fireworks, also known as,  ‘knockouts’, ‘rockets’, etc.

The CP warned that Police operatives of the command had been given specific instructions to clamp down on dealers of fireworks, those who patronized them, and the users, adding that anyone caught breaking the law would be brought to book accordingly.
