The charge reads: That you  Habu Gambo (a.k.a Abubakar Gambo) sometime between November 2020 and February 2022 at Jalingo Taraba State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court with the intent to defraud, fraudulently obtained the gross sum of Fourteen Million Nine Hundred and Seven Thousand Naira(N14,907,000) from Sanusi Gado by falsely representing to him that the money is for the business of buying grains, rea presentation which you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1(1)(b ) of the Advanced Fee Fraud and Other Fraud related offences, act 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same act.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.

Given his plea, prosecution counsel,  SE Okemini prayed the court for a trial date.   However, counsel to the defendant, Sale Abdullahi moved a motion for bail for his client which was opposed by the prosecution on the ground that he had earlier jumped an administrative bail granted him by the EFCC.

Justice Salisu thereafter remanded the defendant at Jalingo Correctional Centre nd adjourned the case to February 20, 2025, for commencement of trial.
