EFCC Charges Nigerian Red Cross  On High Level Of Integrity With Management Of Funds

-

The Kano Zonal Director of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  EFCC, Commander of the EFCC, CE Ibrahim Shazali, has called upon members of the  Nigerian Red Cross,  Kano Branch,  to exercise a high level of integrity in the management of their funds.

This appeal aligns with the EFCC’s relentless efforts to combat corruption and promote ethical practices across various sectors.

According to him,  the critical roles that charitable organisations play in society, especially in providing humanitarian assistance to vulnerable populations, are invaluable. “The Red Cross is at the forefront of delivering essential services during crises.

Therefore, maintaining integrity in financial management is not just a regulatory requirement but a moral obligation that reinforces public trust in the organisation.” He further reiterated that the EFCC was committed to collaborating with reputable organisations to ensure that funds are judiciously utilized for their intended purposes.

The Zonal Director praised the Red Cross for its long-standing tradition of service and highlighted the importance of regular training for staff members. He noted that continuous professional education not only empowers staff but also reinforces the organisation’s capacity to respond effectively to emergencies. “Training programmes in financial management and ethical practices are crucial for maintaining the integrity of your operations,” he said.

Responding,  the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Red Cross,  Kano Branch, Musa D. Abdullahi, assured Shazali of his commitment to uphold ethical standards within the organisation. “We share your vision of integrity and transparency.  Our reputation is built on the trust of the communities we serve, and we will take every step necessary to ensure that our financial operations reflect our commitment to honesty and accountability,”  he said.

In a move to strengthen the partnership between EFCC and the Red Cross, the Executive Secretary proposed a free complimentary training programme on first aid for EFCC staff. “We are keen to foster a collaborative relationship where both organisations can benefit mutually. By equipping your personnel with first aid skills, we can collectively contribute to saving lives in emergencies”, he said.
