EFCC Orders Arrest of Dismissed Driver Posing as Officer on Social Media Matchmaking Show

-

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a stern warning to the public and ordered the immediate arrest of a dismissed staff member, Olakunle Alex Folarin, for allegedly impersonating an officer of the Commission.

In a statement released on Monday, the anti-graft agency disowned Folarin after he appeared on a matchmaking programme running on the “Leke Miami” social media platforms, where he was reportedly presented as an EFCC officer.

The Commission clarified that Folarin is a former employee who was recently dismissed for certificate forgery. He had served as a driver at the Ibadan Zonal Directorate before his termination.

EFCC Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has directed law enforcement to apprehend Folarin for unlawfully possessing Commission properties post-dismissal. According to the statement, Folarin failed to surrender his official Identity Card and other assets, which he should have handed over upon his dismissal.

The agency expressed its strong condemnation of Folarin’s actions and advised the public against associating his conduct with the values and operations of the EFCC.

“The public is advised against associating Folarin’s post-dismissal conduct with the EFCC,” the statement concluded, urging citizens to be cautious of individuals misrepresenting themselves as officials of the Commission.
