Enugu Police arrests two suspects for robbery, recovers firearms, ammunition

-

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested Chekwube Nwobodo, 27, and Ifeanyi Edeh, 30, for alleged armed robbery and recovered arms and ammunition from them.

According to the Enugu Police spokesman,  Daniel Ndukwe, the suspects were arrested at Obinagu-Etiti Nara-Unateze in Nkanu East Local Government Area on March 1, 2024, at about 2:40 p.m. by Enugu State Police Command’s Operatives, attached to the Nkanu East Police Division.

Ndukwe further stated: “The arrest of the suspects, whose other gang members escaped but are being hunted, led to the recovery of one locally fabricated pistol with two live cartridges, pieces of substance suspected to be crystal meth otherwise known as Mpkuru-Mmiri, and a quantity of weed suspected to be marijuana.

“The suspects and gang members at large are alleged to have carried out a series of armed robberies, burglaries, and other criminal activities in the mentioned area. But having met their Waterloo, the suspects shall have the court of law to contend with once investigations are concluded.”

The image manager explained that the operational success was in alignment with the 2024 New Year assurances of the Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, to the good people of Enugu State, that the Command will be more proactive and forward-looking in its policing approach this new year.

The CP reassured the people of the Enugu State, that the Police commitment to actualise its promises remains unwavering.
