Enugu Police Nab Three, Seize Firearm, Ammo in Crime Crackdown

-

The Enugu State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities, resulting in the arrest of three male suspects and the recovery of a firearm, live ammunition, and a getaway vehicle during separate operations.

The arrests, carried out on March 15, 2026, are part of a broader “proactive policing strategy” spearheaded by the Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa.

The day’s successes began at approximately 9:00 a.m. when surveillance operatives from the Department of Operations, patrolling the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway, flagged down an unregistered tricycle.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a locally fabricated double-barrelled pistol. The occupants, identified as Ugochukwu Samuel, 26, and Kevin Kosichukwu, 26, were immediately taken into custody, and the tricycle was impounded.

Roughly ninety minutes later, a separate patrol team from the Udenu Area Command intercepted a motorcycle along Nsukka Road in Orba. While one passenger managed to escape into the nearby bush, the rider, 17-year-old Chinedu Harrison, was apprehended. Police recovered six rounds of 9mm live ammunition from Harrison. According to official reports, the teenager didn’t stay silent for long.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of the Arrow Barger cult group and made further useful disclosures,” stated SP Daniel Ndukwe, the Command’s Public Relations Officer.

Commissioner Giwa praised the proactive protocols displayed by his officers and issued a stern warning to those looking to disrupt the peace in the state.

He remains unwavering in his commitment to rid Enugu State of unrepentant criminal elements and urged all frontline personnel to sustain the momentum. He further called on citizens to remain alert and law-abiding while continuing to support the Police with credible and actionable information.

The operation yielded significant recoveries, including one locally fabricated double-barrelled pistol, six rounds of 9mm live ammunition, and one unregistered tricycle used by the suspects.

Police authorities have confirmed that efforts are underway to track down the fleeing suspect from the Udenu operation. All three arrested individuals are expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are finalised. #Securitynewsalert.com
