FENRAD Commends Governor Otti On 60th Birthday, Calls For Accountability, Transparency In Abia State

-

The Foundation for Environmental Rights, Advocacy, and Development (FENRAD) extends warm congratulations to His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti, the Executive Governor of Abia State, on his 60th birthday.

This milestone is a moment of reflection and renewed commitment to the service of the people.

The Executive Director of FENRAD, Nelson Nwafor, said the group acknowledges and commends Governor Otti’s strides in infrastructural development across the state, particularly the ongoing road rehabilitation, urban renewal projects, and other initiatives aimed at improving the socio-economic landscape of Abia.

According to him, these interventions are critical to enhancing the welfare of citizens and fostering sustainable development.

He further said: “While we celebrate these commendable efforts, we also seize this opportunity to call on the governor to deepen his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and prudent resource management.

“As a state that yearns for inclusive governance and participatory democracy, we urge the government to institutionalise a proactive disclosure framework where citizens are regularly informed about state projects, expenditures, and decision-making processes.

“To achieve this, FENRAD recommends the establishment of a periodic Accountability and Transparency Briefing, where the government provides Abians with updates on project execution, budget implementation, and policy direction. This initiative will not only build public trust but also encourage civic engagement in governance.

“As Governor Otti marks his 60th birthday, we urge him to consolidate his administration’s achievements by strengthening accountability mechanisms, ensuring prudent use of public funds, and fostering open governance.

“The people of Abia State deserve a government that prioritises integrity, efficiency, and inclusivity in decision-making. Once again, we congratulate His Excellency on this milestone and wish him continued wisdom and strength in his leadership journey.”
