Foreign national supplying arms to terrorists arrested, Chibok girls rescue

The Nigerian Army announced that it had arrested a foreign national who allegedly used to supply arms and ammunition to terrorist groups to continue causing mayhem in the country.

This was part of the revelations presented to journalists during the Defence Headquarters Bi-weekly press briefing on the operational activities of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other Security agencies from the various operational theatres across the six geopolitical zones of the Country.

The Director Defence Media, Major General, Musa Danmadami in a press statement said: “The suspected foreign logistic supplier and arms dealer to the Boko Haram Terrorists and Islamic State of West Africa Province named Mallam Abatcha Bukar was arrested in possession of assorted injections, two Automated Teller Machine (ATM) Cards and the sum of N294,520.00.”

Danmadami said that three Chibok girls, who introduced themselves as Jinkai Yama, Falmata Lawal and Asabe Ali, were rescued, along with their children.

He said: “Furthermore, troops rescued three abducted Chibok girls named Jinkai Yama, Falmata Lawal and Asabe Ali who were on serial 3, 20 and 24 of the abducted Chibok girls’ list. They were rescued at different locations with their children and 19 other abductees.”

These arrests and rescue operations were achieved while Troops of Operation HADIN KAI were conducting operational activities at the fringes of various villages and communities in Kukawa, Dikwa, Bama, Kaga, Monguno, Guzamala, Konduga, Gwoza and Mafa Local Government Areas all in Borno State as well as Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Aside from the arrest of the foreign arms dealer and the rescue of the Chibok girls, alongside their children, the troops also recorded other success stories.

“During the operations, troops neutralised 52 suspected Boko Haram Terrorists of Islamic State of West Africa Province fighters and arrested 14 terrorists. Troops also, recovered two unexploded grenades, 12 AK47 rifles, three FN rifles, five AK47 magazines, one automatic grenade launcher, one hand grenade, one AP mine, 86 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, one motorcycle, 16 bows and arrows, seven bicycles and 10 mobile phones,” said Danmadami.
