Former Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Abiodun Alabi (Rtd), has been plunged into profound grief following the tragic death of his long-serving orderly, Inspector Vincent Tolulope, who was killed in a fatal motor accident on Wednesday, November 20, 2025.
The accident, which claimed Inspector Tolulope’s life, has sent shockwaves through the Nigeria Police Force and the circles of the retired DIG.
In a heartfelt statement released through his Media Aide, Joshua Uloko, DIG Alabi described the loss as “deeply personal and painfully irreparable.”
For the retired DIG, Inspector Tolulope was much more than a subordinate; he was a close confidant and a steadfast companion throughout years of service.
“Vincent was my right-hand man, my brother in uniform, and a friend whose loyalty knew no bounds,” a visibly emotional Alabi said. “Every officer dreams of having someone so dependable, so committed, and so selfless by their side. Losing him is like losing a part of my own family.”
Inspector Tolulope had been an integral part of DIG Alabi’s security detail for several years, executing his duties with a high level of professionalism that earned him widespread admiration.
Colleagues remembered Tolulope as a disciplined, humble, and courageous officer. His cheerful demeanour and unwavering dedication made him a reliable figure within the police force.
The tragedy has resonated deeply across the Force, with senior officers, friends, and associates of DIG Alabi extending condolences, describing the loss as shocking and heartrending.
DIG Alabi also extended his profound sympathy to Tolulope’s grieving family, promising them support and praying for divine strength to help them endure the devastating blow.
“I can only pray that God grants Vincent eternal peace and provides his loved ones the courage to bear this devastating blow,” he added.
As the Force grapples with the loss, DIG Alabi called on all officers to honour Inspector Tolulope’s memory by upholding the core values that defined his life: discipline, dedication, and selfless service.
“This is a personal and profound loss,” Alabi concluded. “But the memory of Vincent’s integrity, loyalty, and devotion to duty will remain etched in our hearts forever.”
