Four Gun-Running Suspects Arrested in Connection with Effurun Firearms Incident

-

The Delta State Police Command has arrested four suspects believed to be members of a gun-running syndicate, following the recovery of an illegal Beretta pistol at a park in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, on May 1, 2026.

The suspects Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Clifford Boleyelefa, Amadi Princewill, and Amadi Felix Chibuike were apprehended across Bayelsa and Imo states following a series of intelligence-led operations conducted by command operatives.

The first break in the case came on May 4, when Emmanuel Chukwuemeka was arrested in Bayelsa State along with a friend and roommate, whose phone he had used to facilitate the gun purchase. Chukwuemeka confessed to buying the firearm from Amadi Princewill for ₦290,000 and reselling it to a buyer identified only as Desmond — still at large — for ₦380,000.

Desmond is alleged to have waybilled the weapon to Effurun, where he contacted Oghenemine Ogidi, now deceased, to receive and forward it to Sapele.

Acting on Chukwuemeka’s confession, investigators tracked Amadi Princewill to Imo State, where he was arrested on May 15. During interrogation, Princewill revealed he had acquired the pistol from Amadi Felix Chibuike for ₦200,000. Chibuike was subsequently arrested in Owerri, Imo State, the following day, May 16.

Police say all four suspects are members of the Black Axe confraternity. They are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations. The manhunt for Desmond and other fleeing members of the syndicate remains active.

Commissioner of Police CP Yemi Oyeniyi urged members of the public with relevant information to contact the Delta State Police Command. #Securitynewsalert.com
