Four residents of ‘Back of Wonder City’ arrested for robbery, firearm

The Edo State Police Command, on Sunday, 20th November 2022, arrested four residents of Back of Wonder City over armed robbery and unlawful possession of firearms.

Items recovered from the suspects are a cut-to-size locally made pistol with breech number CAL-45ACP, 10 assorted Android phones and a motorcycle with registration number GDE222-VC.

The suspects have been identified as Umar Sanusi, 28, Saviour Sunday, 23, Edeh Samuel, 18 and Ede Monday, 23, all residing at Back of Wonder City, South Ibie, Edo State.

The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a Superintendent of Police (SP), Chidi Nwabuzor, said: “The arrest was made possible following a well-laid ambush by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Agbede and his men alongside the local vigilante which resulted in the arrest of the first suspect, Umar Sanusi as he was riding a motorcycle with another suspect, while Boniface Junior is currently on the run. Investigation revealed that the motorcycle, with registration number GDE-222-VC, was robbed from the owner, Abdullahi Nufu, at gunpoint at Back of Wonder City, South Ibie, Edo State. A search warrant executed on the suspect’s premises led to the recovery of the cut-to-size locally made pistol and 10 Android phones and the arrest of the three other aforementioned suspects. The Commissioner of Police, Edo Police Command, CP Mohammed .A. Dankwara, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a speedy investigation and prosecution of the case, he charges the relevant investigators and the surveillance unit of the Command to ensure that the fleeing suspect, Boniface Junior is arrested and brought to book as soon as possible.”
