The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has arrested a security guard attached to Greater Scholars Int’l School, in Lekki, over an allegation of defilement of a four years old pupil of the school.

The DSVA, which stated this on its Twitter handle said that the suspect will be moved to Gender Unit, Ikeja, Lagos State Police Command and then charged to court on Monday.

Securitynewsalert.com heard that the matter had been ongoing and there were fears from quarters that the defilement of the minor, which in Lagos State Child’s Law can attract life imprisonment, was about to be swept under the carpet.

DSVA stated: “RE: Alleged defilement of a 4-Year-Old by a Security Guard at Greater Scholars Int’l School.

On May 3rd, 2023, we received a report of this case through our toll-free line and acted promptly by referring the child for medical and psychosocial support. We also alerted the Ajiwe FSU Police Division for investigation. The suspect is currently in police custody. The case would be transferred to Gender, Lagos State Police Command before it is charged to court on Monday.”

A Child’s rights organisation, known as the Advocates for Children and Vulnerable Persons Network (ACVPN), is already tracking the case.

The Programmes Manager of ACVPN, Ms. Blessing Aderemi shared a news nicked from OperaNews.

The news states, “A Twitter user has called out a Lekki School for allegedly trying to cover up reports of their security guard allegedly raping a four years old child. It also alleged that the security guard was laughing when he was being reported, telling those present that nothing will happen. A security guard at the Greater Scholar International School in the Lekki area of Lagos State is accused of molesting a four-year-old child and bragging about going Scot free.”
