Group Affirms Confidence In IGP Disu, Urges Nigerians To Support Ongoing Police Reforms

-

A leading civic advocacy organisation, Prayer and Support for the Nigerian Armed Forces and Other Security Agencies, has reaffirmed its confidence in the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, while expressing optimism about ongoing efforts to strengthen professionalism and accountability within the Nigeria Police Force.

The group’s leader, Ambassador Mary Abayomi Fatile, made this known during a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where she led members in a show of solidarity and constructive engagement with police leadership.

Speaking after the meeting, Fatile emphasised that the organisation believes in the capacity and track record of the IGP to deliver meaningful reforms that will enhance public trust and improve policing standards across the country.

“We are here, not only to show support, but to underscore our confidence in the current Police leadership. Nigerians are hopeful, and we share that optimism for a more responsive and people-focused police institution,” she said.

Fatile noted that Disu’s professional history reflects a strong foundation for leadership, citing his impactful tenure as Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos, where he was widely credited with improving operational efficiency and rapid crime response.

She also referenced his distinguished service in various strategic postings across the country, where he demonstrated discipline, innovation, and commitment to duty.

According to her, these experiences position the IGP to effectively drive reforms that prioritise integrity, training, and community engagement.

“We recognise the complexity of policing in today’s environment, but we are confident that with sustained effort and collaboration, the desired transformation will be achieved,” she added.

The group further highlighted the importance of continued partnership between civil society and security institutions, noting that constructive dialogue and shared responsibility remain key to national security.
Disu, while welcoming the group’s support, reiterated his commitment to strengthening the Nigeria Police Force through ongoing reforms aimed at improving service delivery, professionalism, and public confidence.
The visit reflects a growing spirit of collaboration between civic organisations and security agencies, as stakeholders continue to work together toward a safer and more secure Nigeria.
Prayer & Support for The Nigerian Armed Forces & Other Security Agencies remains dedicated to promoting morale, accountability, and cooperation between citizens and the nation’s security institutions through advocacy, engagement, and community-driven initiatives.
