Guest Opens Fire At Wedding Party, Kills 9 Yrs Old, Injures 7 Yrs Old

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested Muhammad Sani aka KADO for allegedly shooting to death nine-year-old Al’amin Garba and leaving seven-year-old Bello Shehu battling to stay alive.

The Police spokesman, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Nafiu Abubakar, said that one of the victims was shot in the ribs, while the other was shot in the head.

Abubakar explained that on the 14th January 2025 at about 2:pm, during a cultural display, while celebrating a wedding at the residence of Bala Manu of Unguwar Magaji, Koko/Besse LGA of Kebbi State, the suspect shot the two children.

Abubakar added: “On receipt of the report, a team of Policemen, attached to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Besse swiftly mobilised to the scene, arrested the suspects, recovered an exhibit and evacuated the victims to General Hospital, Koko, where a medical Doctor certified Al’amin Garba dead, while Bello Shehu, who sustained serious injury, was admitted for treatment.

“In the light of the above, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani had condemned the ugly incident and called on the good people of Kebbi State, who have firearms of whatever calibre, to return same to the nearest police station, to ensure the safety and security of the citizens, as well as to forestall future occurrence.

“In the same vein, the CP had ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department to ensure speedy investigation and prosecution of the suspects accordingly.”
